一 | Colombo, Oct 12 (UNI) Contradicting Cabinet spokesman Bandula Gunawardane, the Sri Lankan President's office has said that the island nation will remain a middle-income country.
The President's office said in a statement that the government was pursuing a "reverse graduation" policy for a limited period of time, the Daily Mirror reported on Wednesday.
Spokesman Gunawardane had earlier that the cabinet ministers had approved a proposal to downgraded Sri Lanka from a middle income to low income status to secure favourable international financial assistance.
"The immediate rectification by the President's Office seems to show a rift between the Ministers and President Ranil Wickremesinghe," the report said.
